Hi there HiJAKers, I'm going scribble down any dates of interest in the local dance music scene and post them up here. Send me info on any event you think should be covered and I'll let the HiJAK! posse know.
For starters I'd like to mention a previous event Music Sounds Better With You, which launched on Friday at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells. A1 BASSLINE knocked the socks off of an eager 16+ crowd and kept it going solid to the end with the help of unnannounced special guest Kav of Louises Loverss. Check these guys out, they really smash it! With residents Murdeek and Bibliotech holding the fort I'm looking forward to March when they are back for more. http://www.facebook.com/s.php?ref=search&init=q&q=music+sounds+better+with+you&sid=fe69c725d072fe8a9ab2a67a5f7f057f#/group.php?gid=44318988300
Next up is Twisted, a weekly student night that runs every Tuesday at The Source Bar in Maidstone. Liam, Guppy, Matt Cox and Big Trouble take over the venue with an engaging mixture of Twisted Indie and Electronic Music. Expect a big fat mash-up of sounds from these seriously talented DJ's, try getting down to one of their monthly themed nights and don't be afraid to go full-on with your fancy dress, everybody else does! Watch out as these guys explode this year with a new series of weeklies at 666 featuring, amongst others, 'Midnight Flight.' These boys really are going to be everywhere so keep your eyes peeled. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?sid=cc74a633b64b72949f3aac6e7545d7e4&gid=6733170177#/group.php?gid=45851877029
Another weekly, Hip-Hop Thursdays, sees DJ Witz (Midnight Flight) and The Golden Wonderer dropping Hip-Hop bombs and Soul nuggets from 8pm until Midnight at The Sussex Arms in The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. With artwork from legendary artist Kosh and special guests including DJ Been Digging expect a range of wholesome, broken beats and classics. Free entry, great Beer and a good range of spirits in the most chilled pub in town makes this my weekly NOT TO MISS event. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=50871255983#/group.php?gid=50871255983
Bassmeant Assassins, back on the 17th January is a free monthly feast of filthy and wonky House, Breaks and Techno, provided by resident DJ's Defblush and La Vache Qui Rit. This event is housed in the snug Cellar Bar of The Sussex Arms in Tunbridge Wells, where a rollicking large soundsystem and quirky UV decor does justice to quality tunes. Running from 9pm this night gets stomping from the second the doors open and goes full pelt until Midnight. Drinks deals on the downstairs bar and free entry make this my monthly event NOT TO MISS. http://www.facebook.com/s.php?k=100000004&id=30948970769&gr=2&sid=ab6fe8e529e9f208d5343ee109cfb384#/group.php?gid=30948970769
Presenting the local scene with another new night at The Forum is Don't Touch The Fader presents: which this month presents Str8necklin Crew. Get on to their myspace www.myspace.com/str8necklin to see what the fuss is about. Starting at 7.45pm on Thursday the 29th of January and finishing at 1am this really promises to be something special, with support from local electro producer Jacob Plant, who has been heard gracing the airwaves somewhere between 97-99fm. Only 5 pounds to get in and 16+ this is going to kick off.
New additon to the line-up DJ Lush (Herbal) is guaranteed to smash it with a D&B/Dubstep vibe to finish this night off. You really don't want to miss this!!
